The Revd Alec Jamieson was School Captain in 1930 and 1931, recipient of the Senior Meeks Medal in 1929, and was Captain of Athletics from 1929-31. His performances were heroic, both in quality and quantity. He won all
events for which he entered in the AGSV sports of 1930 and 1931: 100 and 220 yards, hurdles, long jump and shot put.
Alec became a Presbyterian minister and served in many parishes throughout rural Victoria and metropolitan Melbourne, holding a number of senior posts within the Church. He often maintained subsequently that his Christian faith was informed and nurtured by the influence of Carey staff.
An athletic contest between the School and the OCGA, known as the Jamieson Cup, was conducted between 1934 and 1997.
