Ann Mellor
Much loved foundation Archivist Ann Mellor passed away on 18 February 2015. Ann was the devoted wife of Honorary Archivist and Founding Scholar, Alfred Mellor CBE (dec). Ann, in partnership with Alfred established the Carey Archives.
Ann was trained as a professional Archivist at Monash University and was active in the Australian Society of Archivists Special Interest Group of School Archives. She was an early adopter of a database specifically designed for Archives almost 20 years ago. Her rigorous attention to detail and methodology laid the foundations of a rich historical legacy. Ann was appointed as Foundation Archivist in 1995, a position she held until she retired in 2001.
On a more personal level Ann was a generous thoughtful and kind friend. We shared a common language of the Carey Archives and its community and developed a firm friendship of warmth and laughter. I will miss her company.
