Beth Owies
Beth started her association with Carey as a parent in 1966. She participated in support groups within the school and was President of the Junior School Mothers’ Association in 1975.
Beth and her husband, Fred, were involved with the Carey Scout Group, Gymnasium Club and Rowing. Beth went on to represent rowing for many years on the Carey Parents Association.
Beth trained as a Registered Nurse at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and Associated Hospitals’ School of Nursing and completed her post-graduate certificate in Operating Theatre Techniques.
As a specialist in Operating Theatre Management, Beth was a Nurse Educator for trainee and qualified nursing staff undergoing their orientation to the operating theatre.
Beth worked with and supported the full-time Registered Nurses at Carey for many years during which she demonstrated highly developed nursing skills, expertise in managing sports injuries and compassion when caring for students, staff and families.
The school community appreciated her wise advice, commitment and dedication over many years.
Beth retired in 1996 to spend time with her family.
