Jonathan Walter became the eighth Principal of Carey Baptist Grammar School in January 2020. Prior to his appointment at Carey, Jonathan served as Principal of Woodleigh School from January 2011 to January 2020, leading the progressive co-educational independent school through a period of significant development, including campus expansion, community growth and strategic initiatives.
During his time at Woodleigh School, Jonathan oversaw the integration and merger processes with Penbank School, aligning operations and expanding educational pathways for students and families.
Jonathan’s connection with Carey extends back to his earlier service as a staff member from 1992 to 1994. Returning to Carey in 2020, he brought extensive experience in educational leadership, a strong commitment to innovative learning and a focus on developing environments where students can thrive.
As Principal, Jonathan has guided Carey through a period of considerable change and transformation, continuing the School’s commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, student wellbeing and a strong sense of community. His leadership has included shaping Carey’s future direction while honouring the traditions and values that have defined the School since its establishment.
Jonathan Walter continues to serve as Principal of Carey Baptist Grammar School.
