The Torch
Torch is a Carey Baptist Grammar School publication first issued in 1994 and published continuously to the present day. Created as a complementary magazine to the long-running Carey Chronicle, The Torch provides a contemporary perspective on school life, community and achievements.
Each edition includes news and features about Carey students, staff, alumni and the wider school community. The magazine highlights current programs and initiatives, celebrates student and staff achievements and reports on developments in teaching and learning. It also profiles Old Carey Grammarians and their contributions beyond school, strengthening connections across generations of the Carey community.
Unlike the Chronicle, which serves as a formal year-by-year record of events, The Torch is designed as a vibrant and accessible magazine. Its mix of articles, photography and design reflects the evolving identity of Carey and its engagement with the broader community.
The collection comprises issues of Torch from 1994 onwards, offering a valuable record of Carey’s culture, values and priorities at the turn of the 21st century and beyond. Together with the Carey Chronicle, The Torch plays an essential role in documenting and sharing Carey’s story.
