This commemorative rowing oar marks a historic milestone in Carey’s sporting history. Painted in Carey gold, the blade bears the names of the First VIII crew, cox, and coach who secured Carey’s first-ever victory in the APS Head of the River regatta in 1985.

The names of the crew are hand-painted on the blade:

The crew’s winning time was 4 minutes, 29 seconds, with Carey finishing ahead of Scotch College (2nd) and Geelong Grammar School (3rd).
