Donvale mural, 1994
A large collaborative mural created in 1994 by art teacher Wendy Weeks and students at the Donvale campus. Installed in the display area outside the Assembly Hall, the colourful mural featured the biblical verse Philippians 4:8 in gold lettering:
“Whatever is true,
Whatever is noble,
Whatever is right,
Whatever is pure,
Whatever is lovely,
Whatever is admirable,
If anything is excellent
or praiseworthy,
Think about such things.”
The text was inspired by an address given by Peter Stockman at a Staff Chapel Service. The mural reflected Wendy Weeks’ philosophy of education and faith, encouraging students to appreciate beauty, develop self-esteem, value their achievements and show care for others. The work formed part of the spiritual and artistic culture of the Donvale campus and demonstrated the collaborative creative practice fostered within the school community.
