CreatorMichael SmallDescriptionIn May 1919, the Baptist Union of Victoria appointed Revd Leonard Tranter to establish a Baptist secondary school. Tranter travelled throughout Victoria to raise money for its foundation. Searching as far eastward as Blackburn for a suitable property, a red brick mansion with extensive stables and woods was chosen. In 1922, the Baptist Union purchased the property on Auburn Heights, known as Urangeline. In 1923, Carey Baptist Grammar School was opened.
