Sergeant Alfred Ernest Holt was killed in action in Egypt on 22 July 1942.

Alfred Holt, son of Mrs. Holt, Kooyong Road, Caulfield and the late Mr. A. E. Holt, was in attendance at Carey as a boarder from June 1935 to May 1936 and was a member of the tennis team.

He was in the service of the T. & G. Insurance Company until he enlisted in the A.I.F. in November, 1939. He left Australia in April, 1940, and saw service in the Middle East for over two years.

He was aged 23 years.
