Eric Albert Joyce, second son of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Joyce, of Canberra, was at Carey from February, 1927; to December, 1929, when he obtained his Leaving Certificate. 

Eric lost his life on 5 January 1944 in air operations over Stettin, Germany.
