Max Drummy gave 30 years of outstanding and devoted service to his Alma Mater. In fact, his connection and involvement with Carey stretch back to 1952 when he commenced as a student at Year 7 level. He matriculated in 1957, was a School Prefect, a member of the 1st XVIII for four years and of the athletics team for three years.

In 1970 Max joined the Carey teaching staff, and he is the only member of staff in the history of the School to have taught in four different sections: Junior School (when it encompassed Years 4-7) 1970-1983; Senior School 1983-1988 and 1993-1995; a foundation staff member at Donvale 1989-1992; Middle School 1996-1999.
