DESCRIPTION

DescriptionYear 8 students travelled by overnight train to Hattah, to participate in their six day camp in the Hattah-Kulkyne National Park. Three days in the base camp learning new skills, such as raft building, initiative activities, and revising old skills such as navigation, prepared the students for the three day expedition in which they
navigate their way around a set route about 30 to 35 kms long. The second day of the expedition has the added challenge of crossing the Chalka Creek. Skills learned back at base camp come into play as rafts, often re-designed or modified from their original purpose, are constructed and used to keep both packs and humans dry.
