This perpetual trophy was awarded annually to Carey’s Open Singles tennis champion from 1952 to 1976. Known colloquially as The Wilson Cup, it was generously donated by Mrs. G. Wilson, a Carey parent, in recognition of excellence in the sport.
Statement of significanceThe Wilson Cup stands 29.5 cm tall and features a classic silver-plated chalice mounted on a tiered Bakelite base. Its elegant, flared bowl is engraved with the names of past champions, and it is finished with finely curved handles on either side. The design reflects mid-20th-century sporting tradition—dignified yet understated.
Winners names are engraved on the reverse of trophy.Date of creationBetween 1st January 1952 and 31st December 1976Year1952-1976TypeTrophyObject measurementsHeight: 29.5cm ; Width: 22 cm.MaterialsBakeliteCollectionTrophy CollectionCategorySports | Tennis
