Created by artist-in-residence Margaret Christianson in 2018, Four Oaks is a series of four metal wall panels commissioned for the Junior School Kew. Each panel (265 × 160 cm; 1.6 mm thick) represents a Year 6 class.
At the centre of each panel is an acorn bearing the class name, a symbol of growth and potential. Surrounding the acorns are four distinct groupings of Australian fauna, unique to each class:
-
6DS – Butterflies and Eagle
-
6P – Lyrebird and Kookaburra
-
6F – Possums and Koala
-
6DF – Magpies and Owl
Together, the panels celebrate the individuality of each class while reflecting themes of nature, community, and growth.
