As part of the project, students explored books of personal significance and developed new visual narratives using an open page from their chosen text, alongside found materials and ceramic elements created during a series of workshops led by Snaith.
The project was inspired by Snaith's Open Book initiative, originally commissioned by the State Library of Victoria. In response, the school sought to present the student works at scale within the campus. With support from Carey Art Technician Simon De Boer, the works were reproduced as banners in the colours of the School Houses and installed temporarily in the JOT Quad.
DescriptionThe JOT Quad, as a central gathering space for learning and collaboration, provides a fitting context for the display, reflecting the shared creative process underpinning the project.Date of creationBetween 1st January 2024 and 31st December 2024Year2024Topic2024 Carey Artist-in-Residence Program: Tai Snaith
