Official opening of the Ringwood Lake Playspace, 2018

DESCRIPTION

DescriptionStudents collaborated with Crafted Landscapes, the Ringwood Lake project team, Carey staff and members of the Donvale Retirement Village to create a 50-metre sculptural eel installation as part of the redevelopment of Ringwood Lake.

The installation incorporates Indigenous symbolism through handmade mosaics and ceramic discs. Patterns on the eel’s back draw on Victorian Indigenous symbolism associated with the Wurundjeri people and represent themes including the seasons, rivers, Mother Earth, campsites and wind.
