Jeanette Jennings
Jeanette (staff 1992-2020) is a highly respected artist who first worked at the Donvale campus as an Artist in Residence in 1992, leading collaborative textile and community art projects inspired by the natural environment. Following further residencies in 1993, she joined Carey permanently in 1994 and went on to shape the artistic culture of the Donvale campus for nearly three decades.
Jeanette believed strongly in the importance of environment and creativity in education, helping transform the campus into a vibrant gallery of student expression. Her teaching encouraged individuality, creative thinking and student voice, with collaborative artworks becoming a defining feature of Donvale.
She also fostered strong community connections through projects with local organisations, retirement villages, the Doncaster RSL and international school exchanges. Her legacy is reflected not only in the many artworks across the campus and wider community, but in the generations of students she inspired through creativity, collaboration and self-expression.
