CreatorCarey Baptist Grammar SchoolDescriptionCarey once had an active Railway Club. Amongst other things, it operated the occasional tour of a steam train excursion to Alexandra operated by the Carey Railway Club.

While the locomotive on this train is today in good working order, you could not do this today. The Alexandra branch line was closed in 1978, at the same time as the Mansfield line. The rail reserve is now part of the Goulburn River High Country Rail Trail.

Michael Norbury remembers:

"I can still remember at the first photo stop, Bill Jessup, one of the school boy organisers, telling everyone to ‘stand back, the Albury Express is due!' I can not imagine that today, the passengers would be locked away!"
