Mr H.G. (Geoffrey) Stevens OAM
Mr Geoff Stevens served as the first President of the Carey Foundation from 1983 to 1989.
Geoff did not attend Carey as a student nor was he a parent. Former School Council President Mr Eric Dunshea, invited Geoff to join the Finance Committee of the Council. Former Council member, Foundation Scholar and OCGA Honoured Life Member, the late Eric Stevens was Geoff's uncle and one wouldn't discount the part je may have played in turning Geoff's interests towards Carey.
Geoff was a great benefactor to Carey and maintained a keen interest in what was going on at the school when he retired from his 'formal' links.
He led two successful fundraising campaigns and had been a Chairman of the Foundation Board. The swimming complex at Bulleen was named in his honour.
He was a man with a great interested in community activities one of which was Rotary. Geoff had been a Past President of Hawthorn Rotary Club (of which former Headmaster, Mr Gerard Cramer AM was a member) and a Past District Governor.
