Son of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Jones; husband of Linda Mary Jones, of Kew, Victoria, Australia.
He had entered Carey, as a senior student, in 1925, and left at the end of 1926. He was the first Old Grammarian to lose his life while on service.
Jack Jones joined the R.A.A.F. in 1935 and left Australia for England in November 1939 with the first contingent of Australian airmen to go abroad.
He served as an air-gunner in a Sunderland Flying Boat attached to the Coastal Command, and was a member of the crew which flew Mr. Eden to Egypt. (Rt. Hon. Anthony Eden M.P., a post-war Prime Minister).
