Reverend Peter Stockman and Dr. Keith Farrer highlighted the contributions of past laborers and donors, including the Steele family. The new wing, partially occupied but still under construction, was praised for its potential to improve the school's efficiency. The ceremony featured speeches from Mr. Gerard Cramer, Rev. D.J. Griffiths, and Mr. K.A. Lyall, who reminisced about the school's history and the significance of the new building.
Mr. G. McL. Miles handed a key to Mrs. E. B. Gilbert, who declared the wing open. The Junior School Choir sang. Ralph Shinkfield directed attendees to afternoon tea locations and provided a tour route, highlighting key areas like the seventh form rooms, library, and chapel. He shared a story about Mr. Steele's proposal to his father. Attendees were instructed on their program's gold circle for special seating arrangements and were encouraged to explore the new wing and other school facilities.
