Opening of the Mollie Brown Library, 1984
Junior School Headmaster Mr Don Brown welcomed guests to the opening of the Mollie Brown Library, a room within Farrer House, noting in particular the presence of former staff and Preparatory School students.
The library, which serves students in Years 1 to 3, has grown to a collection of more than 2,000 books since its establishment in 1979. To mark the 25th anniversary of the new Preparatory School, the room was named in honour of Mollie Brown, a much-loved staff member of 22 years, remembered for her deep affection for both literature and children.
In her response, Mollie Brown expressed her gratitude for the honour, speaking warmly about the joy of reading and her lifelong love of books.
The ceremony concluded with students being invited to return to their classrooms for lunch.
