Arthur William Charles Brown (OCG 1932)
A.W.C. Brown, the elder son of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Brown of Rathmines Road Auburn, and brother of Pearce, also an old boy of Carey and a lieutenant in the A.I.F., was at the school from February, 1924, to December, 1932, when he obtained his Intermediate Certificate. On leaving Carey he took up pharmacy as a career, was apprenticed to H. A, Braithwaite, of Camberwell. He qualified in 1937, but, being too young to register then, was registered and elected a member of the Pharmaceutical Society in 1938.
He joined the R.A.A.F. in 1940 and left Australia for Singapore in September 1941. He was taken prisoner in Java in February, 1942. (sic: Probably March 8th).
Before he left Australia he was married to Miss Esma Yates. His age at the probable date of his death was 26 years.
